Organized to commemorate the master director of Turkish cinema, Atıf Yılmaz, the 5th  Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Festival came to an end after a spectacular gala night.

In the 5th Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Festival where 260 short films participated in Fiction, Documentary and Animation categories, the winners of the Fiction category are Yakup Tekin Tangaç with the short film Azadand Metehan Şereflioğlu with the short film 7 Santimetre, and the winner of the Documentary category is Bulut Renas Kaçan with the short film Regerand the winner of the Animation category is Metin Vatansever with the short film Nefretin Üvey Evlatlarıyız.

Organized by Forum Mersin to commemorate the master director of the Turkish cinema, Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Festival came to an end. In the gala night held in Forum Mersin Atıf Yılmaz Square, Mersin Governor Özdemir Çakacak, the President of the Mersin University Prof. Dr. Ahmet Çamsarı, actress Türkan Şoray, actress Deniz Türkali and many visitors attended.

Presented by Nefise Karatay, the gala night started with the documentary made for the 10th anniversary of the death of Atıf Yılmaz.

The Director of Forum Mersin Adem Erol who have a speech at the gala night stated that they feel the honor of commemorating Atıf Yılmaz, the master director of the Turkish cinema who passed away in 2006, in Mersin, the city he was born, in a manner that suits to his art and name, and thanked everybody who made efforts in this organization.

The President of Mersin University Prof. Dr. Ahmet Çamsarı thanked everybody who made efforts in this organization stating that he was pleased to be a part of this festival organized to commemorate the master director Atıf Yılmaz as Mersin University.

Festival Organization Committee Member, Mersin University Faculty of Communication Academic Member Asst. Professor Dr. Hakan Erkılıç thanked everybody who made efforts in this organization underlining that Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Competition turned into a festival this year.

Actress Deniz Türkali stated that Mersin was a city of fidelity and expressed her gratitude that the name of Atıf Yılmaz was mentioned in such a festival.

Actress Türkan Şoray stated that they had great memories with Atıf Yılmaz throughout many years and they were also friends out of the cinema environment. Emphasizing the importance of giving an award on behalf of his name to young people, Şoray said “incredibly beautiful films participated in the festival, I feel very honoured on behalf of the cinema”.

Yakup Tekin Tangaç and Metehan Şereflioğlu are the winners of the Fiction category of the 5th Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Festival organized with the contributions of Oberhausen Short Film Festival with their short movie “Azad”. Bulut Renas Kaçan is the winner of the Documentary category of the 5th Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Festival with its movie “Reger”. The winner of the 5th Atıf Yılmaz Short Film Festival in Animation Category is Metin Vatansever with his movie “Nefretin Üvey Evlatlarıyız”.
The Jury of Cinema Authors watched 30 movies that made it to the finals in the fiction, documentary and animation categories. The films selected by the Jury of Cinema Authors from each category were presented as Forum Mersin Special Award, Jury Special Awards and Cinema Authors Award. Accordingly, Forum Mersin Special Award was given to Hüseyin Gülgen with his film “Zirve”, while Jury Special Awards were given to Süleyman Demirel with his movie “Asfalt” and to M. Emrah Erkan with the movie “Tuhaf Zamanlar”. In the documentary category, the Cinema Authors Award was given to Ömer Akbaş with the movie “Son Nefes”.
The gala night came to an end after the family photo.
